The cii – SDGs Reporting Module
In the fall of 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted at the COP21 in Paris. In contrast to the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the SDGs apply to all countries worldwide, not just to developing countries. During this year, they were ratified by more than 77 countries.
These included China, the United States and the European Union. They are directly linked to the MDGs and cover 17 global goals such as poverty, education, climate protection, responsible consumption and resource-conserving production, sustainable cities, industry, innovation and infrastructure with 169 targets. To achieve the ambitious goals, the involvement of companies is of great importance. The SDG Compass provides an overview of possible indicators for reporting according to the SDGs.
Since the SDGs offer a worldwide valid framework for good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), integrating the indicators into the reporting process provides some advantages:
- Low entry level by using existing indicators from the company, but long-term possibilities of holistic reporting in accordance to the SDGs (a possible new standard)
- Improvement of your business case by mentioning the terms “United Nations – UN” and “SDGs” in your reporting
- Adaptation possibilities with other frameworks are relatively easy to reach by quantity of indicators (assuming one uses a corresponding tool)
The cii SDGs Reporting Module offers you all possibilities to integrate parts of the SDGs indicators or all of them into your reporting and thus achieve a long-term sustainable reporting.
