The cii – Integrated Reporting Module
The concept of Integrated Reporting is gaining more and more interest and relevance. The idea behind Integrated Reporting is that companies have to create only one comprehensive report, combining their financial as well as their non-financial information within this report.
Integrated Reporting is a holistic approach, which combines traditional financial reporting (e.g. balance sheet or cash flow statement) with non-financial reporting elements (such as sustainability reporting, reporting on risk management and corporate governance aspects). The concept focusses on the whole business model of a company and its strategy and is therefore an approach that helps to take the needs of all stakeholders into account.
Integrated Reporting is including all aspects that are influencing middle and long-term value creation of companies into an organisations yearly reporting. There are six capitals that has to be reported on:
Financial, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural.
There are numerous people working together in networks around the world in order to foster development to the IR, its framework and the council. One of these networks is the Technology Initiative. The Technology Initiative consists of a selected group of companies that joined the IIRC to help with the technical aspects of the implementation of the framework. As a member of the Technology Initiative we developed our solution, the cii Integrated Reporting Module.
